Set Up a YouTube Channel
As a performance artist (i.e. comedian, band, singer/songwriter, slam poetry artist, etc.) your video content is your calling card, and presenting it on YouTube is a good way for you to get noticed AND maintain control over how your content is seen by the world. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to set up your YouTube channel and organize your video content on YouTube, so that bookers, contests juries, fans, and anyone else can view your video in a professional, categorized manner. This will not only force you to finally get your content in order, but also gain new followers on YouTube (as well as other social media).
Topics covered in this workshop include how to:
· Name Your YouTube Channel (or rename, if you want to change it)
· Customize the home page of your YouTube Channel
· Upload video clips to your YouTube channel
· Add bumpers and title cards to your videos (which is optional)
· Use strategies for assigning keywords to your YouTube videos
· Create playlists to organize your video clips
· Create unlisted or private videos (to send to contest juries)
· Edit videos within YouTube (using YouTube Studio, which is free)
This is a hands-on class…
So you must already have a YouTube account and video that you want to upload or have already uploaded. If you don't have a YouTube account, and don't know how to set one up, come to this workshop anyway, and I'll show you how to do that. It's free to set up a YouTube account, all you need is a gmail email address and a password that you create.
Please bring to this workshop…
· Your laptop
· Pen and notebook to take notes
· At least one video (on your computer) to post on your YouTube Channel
By the time you leave this class, you'll have created and organized your YouTube channel, and understand how you can use YouTube to promote your standup career (and more importantly, use it to apply to contests).
