Instagram Basics
for Comedians

In today’s world, anyone can promote themselves on social media. If you’re an author, speaker, or comedian (or any performer, really), you know you should be posting video on Instagram to promote yourself and/or your creative business.

But what kind of video do you post?

How do you edit it?

How do you cut it down just to that little piece that you want to share?

A video natively created and posted on Instagram is called a reel, and contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to use third-party video editing apps (like iMovie or Filmr) to create and post pro-looking reels. Nor do you have to spend tons of time creating your reels. By learning just a few simple tips and tricks, you can easily edit and post video as Instagram reels like a pro.

In this workshop you will learn how to:

  1. Edit video within Instagram to create pro-looking reels (without using third-party party apps)

  2.  Add captions to your Instagram reels

  3. Direct your followers to specific links (like t0 your book sales page or show ticketing page) using Linktree

  4.  Use effects to create really cool promotional Instagram reels

  5.   Add music under dialogue on an Instagram reel (so that you can have a song playing softly under you talking)

  6.   Determine which content to post as a story versus as a post

  7.   Find the right hash tags to use and why they make a difference

  8.   Use your "Reels Insights" to see how well your post is doing (so you can course correct for your next reels)

Please bring to this workshop…
