My name is Stacy Dymalski and I’m a story editor, producer, publishing consultant, professional speaker, and busy mom of two sons. Any more than that and I’ll spontaneously combust.

PROFESSIONAL SPEAKER

I started my speaking career as a standup comic in college when I was just 19 years old. But after I graduated with a mathematics degree from University of California, Berkeley, I became a technical trainer and sales support engineer for companies like McDonnell Douglas, Computer Associates, Arthur Andersen, IBM, Adobe, and many others. By day I honed my corporate speaking skills, but at night I continued to do standup comedy in clubs like The Comedy Store, The Improv, and countless small clubs around the country.

Eventually I went to back to school at UCLA to study screenwriting and story structure. Today I perform humorous storytelling (think Will Rogers meets Carol Burnett—if you’re even old enough to remember who they are) at anything from big corporate events to small private parties. Plus, I speak in academia and the corporate world on writing your story and self-publishing.

In April 2016, I gave at TED talk entitled Prison: A Startling Path to Creativity in which I share how I mentored Federal prisoner David C. Taylor for two years to write his book JACUMBA CONNECTION. E-Magination Publishing released his book in June of 2016, and David's story has since been adapted into a screenplay and is in preproduction to be made into a movie.  In June of 2018 I premiered a one-woman show at the Hollywood Fringe Festival, entitled THE OTHER SIDE OF THE RAZOR RIBBON, in which I humorously and poignantly chronicle the journey of mentoring David to write his book. The show finished it's Hollywood Fringe run with a Producer's Encore Award and is in the process of booking future runs in L.A. and around the country.

STORYTELLER & PUBLISHING CONSULTANT

In 2011 I self-published my humorous book Confessions of a Band Geek Mom, and as a result I was all over the media nationwide that summer. Someone from the University of Utah heard me on the radio and asked if I’d be interested in teaching a self-publishing course as part of the university’s Lifelong Learning program. I said yes, but that meant I had to get organized. I researched self-publishing even further, stayed one step ahead of my students, developed my own curriculum, helped friends self-publish their books, who then referred me to clients. I added writing and storytelling to my course curriculum, and before I knew it I was a sought-after writing and publishing consultant.
